Wet Palette Starter Kit for Acrylic Miniature Painting — Tray Set
Product description
What you get: a compact plastic palette tray with a hinged snap-on lid, a washable high-density foam core that holds moisture, a shaped moisture sponge, and a pack of 100 hydro/peel-off papers designed for wet-palette use.
Materials and construction: the tray is injection-molded plastic, the internal pad is a dense foam that absorbs and releases water reliably, and the supplied sheets are professional-grade hydro papers that promote smooth paint flow without beading. The sponge is sized to sit snugly on the foam and maintain even humidity across the mixing surface.
How to use: soak the foam and sponge, place one hydro sheet over the foam, load paint onto the paper and close the lid to trap humidity. The paper lets you mix colors smoothly while the damp foam underneath keeps paint from skinning over. When a sheet is spent, simply peel it off and discard — no scraping or scrubbing required.
Size and portability: the unit is small and travel-friendly, suitable for miniature painting, hobby projects, and quick sessions at a table or desk. External dimensions are roughly 7 x 4 x 2 inches, with a working surface sized for several small color wells rather than large palettes.
Care and maintenance: the foam core is hand-washable and built for repeated use. The tray wipes clean, and changing the peel-off sheets keeps cleanup quick. Because the lid seals modestly rather than forming an airtight lock, you may need to add a little water between longer breaks.
Pros
- Keeps acrylics usable for multiple days
- Includes 100 peel-off hydro papers and a washable foam core
- Compact and easy to transport
Cons
- Basic lid seal — not fully airtight
- Paper quality can vary between batches
- Small working area for many colors
VerdictSolid entry-level wet palette for acrylic miniature painters. The kit keeps paints workable for days, uses a dense foam core and professional-style hydro papers for smooth mixing, and is lightweight enough to take to classes or painting nights. It isn’t as robust as higher-end pro models — the cover and seal are basic and paper quality can vary between units — but for hobbyists who want a simple,

Would recommend
Exactly as described and very helpful. I waste less paint and the extra sheets in the pack are handy.

Handy tool for detail work
Makes fine-detail painting much easier. A must-have for tabletop painters and modelers.

Not as pictured or sized
Product didn’t match the photos or listed dimensions. It’s smaller—about 7 x 4 x 2 inches—and the foam is weak and compresses too easily.

Essential for acrylics
If you use acrylics this is a worthwhile tool. Keeps paints from drying and lets you pick up where you left off. Strong recommendation.

Inconsistent paper quality
Bought two units; one came with excellent sheets, the other had paper that behaved like thin plastic—paints slid off or dried oddly.

Good for small projects
Does the job. I use it for compact projects and it keeps paint workable for weeks when managed carefully.

Small but effective
Works great. It’s compact so it only holds a few mixes if you use lots of colors, but that also saves workspace. I like it.

Works as needed, size is tight
Does what I need—keeps paint from drying while I work. Paint stays usable for days. The mixing surface is a bit small for my setup and the lid’s attached hinge gets in the way on my cramped table. I top up with a little water occasionally. Overall I like it and might modify the lid to suit my space.

Simple but the sponge is great
After two decades painting miniatures I’ve made wet palettes at home. This is straightforward and effective — the fitted moisture sponge is perfectly shaped for the tray and earns it extra points. It’s a solid beginner option you could replicate with household items, but the included sponge is a nice, ready-made touch.

Great value entry wet palette
Easy to clean and the foam mat is excellent. Works with game paint brands and helps with glazing, though it can leak and you must work fairly quickly to avoid over-dilution as the paper transfers water to the foam. The clear cover is useful for short breaks and the supplied hydro paper performs well without falling apart.
