2000W Shortwave Common-Mode RF Choke (1.8–54 MHz)
Product description
What you get: a single RBR2000W shortwave common-mode choke assembled with an M-J connector and a sealed, UV-resistant enclosure ready for feed-point or base-station installation.
Construction and materials: the unit is built with a thickened, anti-corrosion housing designed to resist UV exposure and the elements when installed in sheltered outdoor locations. Professional-grade connectors are fitted to preserve a stable, low-loss connection at the antenna feed point.
Electrical and mechanical details: the choke covers 1.8–54 MHz with a standard 50Ω impedance. Power handling is rated at 2000W PEP (SSB), 1200W for CW operation and 600W for digital modes. Insertion loss is ultra-low, specified at ≤0.3 dB at 28 MHz. The design combines common-mode filtering, a static-bleed grounding path and high-frequency response compensation to suppress common-mode currents and reduce RFI.
Performance notes and usage: install the choke at the antenna feed or on the coax near entry points to bleed static, improve RF grounding and help maintain intended antenna patterns. Theoretical common-mode attenuation reaches up to 50 dB at the top of the band, while practical measurements have shown peak attenuation in the 30–35 dB range around 10–12 MHz, so expect frequency-dependent results when tuning for best suppression.
Pros
- Very high power rating for demanding HF use
- Combines filtering, static bleed and HF compensation
- Durable, weather-resistant housing and pro connectors
Cons
- Measured attenuation can be lower than theoretical values
- Single connector type may require adapters for some setups
- Not intended for fully exposed outdoor mounting without shelter
VerdictA robust high-power RF choke built for serious shortwave use. It balances very low insertion loss with multi-function suppression of common-mode currents and antenna static. The enclosure and connectors are designed for sheltered outdoor or base-station mounting. Attenuation varies by frequency — theoretical figures are high, measured values are lower in some bands — but overall it delivers reliab

Solid common-mode choke for a home HF station
Exactly what I needed for my home amateur setup. The unit is a good compact size, feels rugged and is easy to install. It helped tame noise and the build quality seems durable. Would buy again for other stations.
