SKIL 9206-02 7.5-Amp Variable-Speed Reciprocating Saw
Product description
This SKIL 9206-02 reciprocating saw is a corded tool driven by a 7.5‑amp motor and a variable‑speed trigger to adapt blade speed to the material. The unit uses a tool‑less blade clamp so blades can be swapped quickly, and it typically ships with a single starter blade. Large cutting tasks are supported by a heavy‑duty metal gear housing that increases ruggedness and helps the saw stand up to frequent use.
Design elements intended to improve user comfort include an internal counterbalance that reduces vibration and an adjustable pivoting shoe that stabilizes the blade against the workpiece. The shoe is metal and can be set to different depths for more controlled cutting. The saw accepts standard reciprocating blades for wood and metal and is aimed at homeowners for demolition, pruning, cutting pipe and general repair jobs.
Pros
- Strong 7.5‑amp motor and variable speed
- Tool‑free blade changes
- Durable metal gear housing and vibration control
Cons
- Heavier than one‑handed models
- Only a single starter blade included
- Not a precision finishing tool
VerdictA robust, no‑frills corded reciprocating saw that delivers strong cutting performance for homeowner and light‑professional use. The 7.5‑amp motor and variable speed offer enough power and control for wood and metal tasks, while the metal gear housing and counterbalance improve durability and comfort. It’s easy to change blades without tools and the pivoting shoe helps keep cuts steady. Expect a bi

Tough enough for heavy use
After cheaper tools failed, this one felt solid. I cut oilfield pipe and the speed control helps prevent blade overheating.

Runs reliably
The saw performed exactly as expected from SKIL. My only issue was cheap blades I bought separately — the tool itself worked well, didn’t overheat, and I’d recommend it.

Essential for DIY projects
After using it on several jobs I’ve grown to rely on it. Variable speed gives control for delicate starts or aggressive cutting, and it handled both wood and metal without issue. The balance and grip are comfortable and the anti‑vibe helps on longer jobs. Tool‑free blade changes save time.

Stump and root work made easier
This is a beast for tough stump and root work — gets the job done faster. It’s a messy task and you’ll need more than one blade; the package included only a single blade.

Good for occasional jobs
I’m pleased with this saw given its cost. I only need a recip saw sometimes and this one does the job. Blade swaps are simple and the shoe adjustment is fine, though it can loosen once in a while. Somewhat heavy and a bit clumsy for fine work, but overall very satisfactory.

Solid, corded value
Good value and I like that it’s corded so there’s no battery worry. Heavy for single‑handed use but handled roots and large branches fine; tool‑free blade changes are handy.

Ideal for yard and branch cutting
I’d never used a recip saw until borrowing one to trim storm‑fell branches. It easily handled a 6" diameter and I’ve pushed it on thicker pieces by working around the outside first. On my wooded property it’s been handy for pines, dogwood and oak saplings — I use a hand saw for distant edges and this to finish heavier cuts.
