HexClad 9" Knife Honing Rod — Sharpen, Straighten & Restore Blades
Product description
Regularly realigning the tiny serrations on a knife's edge restores cutting performance. Hold the rod steady and move the blade from the heel toward the tip at a consistent angle, starting from the handle end of the knife. Repeat the pass several times, then switch to the opposite side of the blade and mirror the same number of strokes until the edge feels right for your tasks.
The rod itself uses a fine-texture Japanese Damascus stainless-steel honing surface that protects the cutting edge while removing microscopic burrs. That 9" honing zone sits within a 14" overall length, giving you enough shaft to work with a variety of knives. The handle is a 5" Pakkawood grip shaped for comfort and control during repeated passes.
The steel finish is magnetic, which helps collect metal filings produced during honing and keeps them from dispersing into the air or onto nearby food. For storage, a magnetic block or the original box keeps the rod safe and accessible between uses. Avoid dishwashing: hand wash promptly and towel dry to prevent moisture-related damage.
With routine care—frequent honing, careful storage, and hand cleaning—HexClad cutlery and its accompanying tools can be preserved for many years. The product is backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects; the warranty does not apply to damage from improper use, dishwasher exposure, cutting on hard surfaces, normal dulling, rust or discoloration, bent or broken blades, loss, theft, or foodservice use.
