Potable Aqua Water Purification Tablets — Portable Water Treatment
Product description
This pack contains two plastic bottles, each stocked with 50 Potable Aqua water purification tablets. The tablets are small, travel-friendly, and are shipped in envelopes without extra outer cartons to save space and weight.
Designed for hikers, campers, international travelers and disaster kits, the tablets chemically treat suspect surface or tap water to make it bacteriologically suitable for drinking when used exactly as directed. The active formulation is proven to be effective against pathogens including Giardia lamblia.
A single bottle’s 50 tablets will treat multiple quarts of water; follow the included instructions for dosing. After adding a tablet to the specified volume, allow the full contact time—about 35 minutes—for the treatment to complete before consuming.
These tablets are intended as a compact emergency or travel solution where filtration or boiling are impractical. For improved palatability and to remove visible debris, it’s recommended to pre-filter cloudy water with a cloth or similar material before chemical treatment.
Pros
- Compact, lightweight and travel-friendly
- Effective against Giardia when used correctly
- Two bottles give a sizeable emergency supply
Cons
- Can leave an aftertaste in treated water
- Not a sediment filter—pre-filtration recommended
- Requires wait time (about 35 minutes) before drinking
VerdictA compact, travel-ready chemical purifier ideal for emergency preparedness and outdoor use. Each bottle holds 50 tablets; follow directions for reliable bacteriological treatment in roughly 35 minutes. Best used alongside basic prefiltering for improved clarity and taste.

Does the job for hikers
We hike often so I gave these a try. The aftertaste bothered me, but there are neutralizers for that. You can go through a lot in a day—I recommend several bottles for two people cooking and drinking.

Reliable for trips and emergencies
These tablets have lasted longer than I expected. They disinfect water with only a minor change in taste and the instructions are straightforward. I still use a filter beforehand to help flavor.

Packaging and taste tips
Arrived quickly and as pictured; haven't used them yet. I read that vitamin C (ascorbic acid) added after the treatment can reduce iodine taste once the disinfectant has completed its cycle.

Effective—consider pre-filtering
There are two common ways to make contaminated water safe: mechanical filtration to remove particles, or chemical treatment to kill microbes. For best results use a cloth or bandana to remove sediment first, then treat with the tablets. Boiling is another option but requires time and fuel; the tablets are faster and more portable.
