D'Addario Reed Guard IV — Sax & Clarinet Reed Holder (Small)
Product description
Includes one Reed Guard IV reed case sized to hold four single reeds. The compact unit is molded from a sturdy plastic shell with internal channels that hold each reed upright and allow airflow for drying.
The small model accommodates Bb clarinet, soprano sax and alto sax reeds. A larger version is offered for bass clarinet, tenor sax and baritone sax reeds. Each guard stores four reeds so you can rotate sets for even wear.
Use it to keep reeds flat while they dry, protect tips and heels during transport, and reduce clutter inside your instrument case. The slim sealed design slips into a coat pocket, pouch, or music bag for practice or travel.
Pros
- Securely holds and protects four reeds
- Compact and pocket-friendly

A touch short but functional
My alto reeds stick out the ends, but they remain secure. I would prefer it half an inch longer for fuller coverage.

Good for alto sax beginners
Bought this because it's inexpensive and it fits my alto reeds. It preserves their shape much better than the thin plastic sleeves that come with reeds. Good value for the money.

Does exactly what I needed
I'm a beginner and needed a way to break in and dry spare clarinet reeds. This holds them neatly and lets air circulate. I wish the reeds sat flush inside, but the slight overhang makes removal easier. A small protective sleeve for the guard would be a nice addition.

Keeps reeds flat and organized
I've owned versions of this for years. They're compact, easy to use, and keep reeds flat while drying, which reduces warping. Be careful inserting them at the wrong angle—improper use can damage a reed. Some brands fit tighter and may leave a few millimeters protruding at the back.

Keeps reeds straight and ventilated
I've used older versions for tenor reeds and these work great to prevent warp and allow drying. Tenor guards can leave the heel protruding, while alto guards can be tight and tricky to remove without fingernails.
