Craftsman 22" Corded Hedge Trimmer with POWERSAW Branch Cutter
Product description
This corded Craftsman hedge trimmer includes the main trimmer assembly with integrated POWERSAW branch cutter and a full-bale handle for improved grip and maneuverability. The tool features a 3.8 Amp electric motor that drives 22-inch dual-action steel blades designed to reduce vibration and deliver cleaner cuts.
Blade specifications: 22-inch dual-action metal blades with a 3/4-inch standard cutting capacity. The separate POWERSAW cutting feature is intended for occasional larger limbs up to about 1.5 inches in diameter. The housing is a molded plastic shell around the motor and electrical components, with metal gearing and blades.
How it’s used: plug into a standard outdoor-rated extension and use the full-bale handle to guide the trimmer along hedges, shrubs and decorative bushes. For thicker branches, engage the POWERSAW head and cut those limbs one at a time. Routine blade cleaning and light lubrication will help maintain performance.
Pros
- Good cutting power for residential trimming
- Lightweight and easy to handle
- Integrated branch cutter for thicker limbs
Cons
- Corded design limits mobility
- POWERSAW is slower on very thick branches
- Not intended for professional heavy-duty use
VerdictA practical, lightweight corded hedge trimmer for homeowners who need dependable cutting power for routine shrub and hedge maintenance. The dual-action blades deliver clean 3/4-inch cuts and the POWERSAW head can handle occasional 1.5-inch limbs. Best for residential use where portability and ease of handling matter more than pro-level durability.

Solid value for homeowners
Excellent trimmer for the price and much cheaper than other retailers for the same Craftsman model.

Stopped working quickly for me
Failed on the first day. The branch cutter mostly shook and caught instead of cutting; it seems focused on efficiency more than long-term power. My older gas model lasted decades, so I’m switching to gas for heavier work.

Great for keeping vines trimmed
Neighbor planted bougainvillea along the fence. This has done a fine job keeping it trimmed on my side. Cuts branches about thumb-thick easily.

Does the job
Meets expectations. It’s suitable for typical yard work and handles the tasks I bought it for.

Lightweight and effective for many shrubs
Bought mine in March 2026. I trim over 50 shrubs each spring—hollies, gardenias and camellias. The unit is light and has ample power for routine shaping. The POWERSAW feature was less effective on some branches, either user error or a limitation of the design.

Good value, needs oil and spares
For the money it’s hard to beat. Not a pro-grade tool, but it’s my third in 12 years and meets my needs. It uses a fair amount of chain oil and I keep spare parts on hand.

Handled thick brush when needed
Worked very well for me clearing dense brush to reach a buried utility trailer. I powered it from a 700W generator. The POWERSAW section cut thicker branches but needed patience. I recommend it and oil the blades after use.

Perfect for home hedges
Great purchase. Very light because there’s no heavy battery pack. I trimmed both sides of a 120 ft hedge in an hour thanks to the cutting power and low weight. Highly recommended.

Excellent cost-to-performance
After comparing many electric trimmers by power, cutting capacity and blade length, I chose this one. Used it on a neglected overgrown hedge, followed instructions and used the saw option for limbs over 3/4 inch. Results were excellent and I’m very satisfied.
