Cloud 44 Midnight Passive Ribbon Microphone — US-Made Studio Mic
Product description
Passive output for louder sources
Unlike the Cloud 44-A, which has internal Cloudlifter circuitry, the 44 Midnight is a passive-design ribbon mic. That passive topology makes it well suited to close miking and louder sound sources where internal active electronics aren’t required.
Midnight Edition Cloudlifter included
This edition ships with a matching black Cloudlifter CL-1 mic activator. The CL-1 provides ultra-clean gain when you need it and can also be used with other ribbon, dynamic, or tube microphones for more headroom and lower noise on quiet sources.
Vintage inspiration, modern construction
The ribbon motor layout pays homage to the original 1930s RCA 44, but every other element has been improved with contemporary materials, precision manufacturing, and up-to-date assembly techniques. The result is a classic ribbon voice with the consistency and durability expected in modern production gear.
Made in the USA with warranty
Cloud Microphones manufactures the 44 Midnight in the United States. The microphone includes a two-year warranty specifically for the ribbon element and a limited lifetime warranty on remaining components, reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality and service.

Massive presence, superb ribbon character
Longtime ribbon fan here — this mic nails that rich, analog tone. It’s built like a tank, looks great, and somehow sounds more impressive than you’d expect. It cuts through dense mixes with a pleasing, vintage weight.
