15" x 12" Felted Wool Pressing Mat — Quilting & Sewing Iron Pad
Product description
What’s included: one felted wool pressing mat sized for compact sewing work.
Materials and build: constructed from 100% New Zealand wool blended with other premium fibers and densely felted to create a firm, resilient surface. The mat measures 15" x 12" with an approximate thickness of 1/2 inch, making it substantial enough to absorb heat yet light enough to carry.
How it works: the wool core soaks up heat and steam from your iron, reflecting that warmth back into the textile so you can press both sides effectively without repeatedly turning the piece over. Its textured felt finish increases friction to keep fabrics steady while dense interlocking fibers resist stretching and hold pins.
Use and heat guidance: intended for low to medium iron temperatures (up to about 150°C / 302°F). Avoid cotton/linen settings and never leave a bare iron resting stationary on the mat. Steam irons are compatible; when using steam, place a flat protective layer beneath the mat to protect the work surface from moisture.
Care and storage: to clean, rinse gently in a sink or tub and hang to dry — do not machine wash. Avoid twisting, folding, rolling, or storing the mat while damp. Keep it flat in storage and ensure it is completely dry before putting it away.

VerdictA portable, heavy-duty pressing surface engineered for sewing and quilting. The dense, felted wool core holds and reflects heat for efficient pressing, so lightweight fabrics and seams get crisp results without constant flipping. It’s easy to move, stores flat, and works well with steam when used with a protective layer underneath. Follow the low-heat guidance and drying care and it will serve as

Top in its category
Excellent value and construction. I used it as a backing for a press that needed to absorb moisture and give slightly — it performed exactly as required and feels well-made.

Perfect travel pressing pad
Does exactly what I needed. Thick and portable — I bought the small size to fit with my travel sewing kit and it tucks into my case along with a rotary mat and small table piece. Great for mission trip sewing.

Sturdy, thick, and the right size for small seams and quilt blocks. Easy to move around the room.

Not truly all wool
I found residues on my iron after first use, which suggests it’s not pure wool. It still serves well for hemming on a table, but be careful if you need absolutely clean results.

Arrived as pictured
On-time delivery and the mat looked just like the photos. I didn’t detect any odor; I didn’t steam it, but dampness could bring out wool scent.

Very impressed for a first-time pressing mat user. Dense, well-pressed wool with accurate measurements and no odor. Absorbs heat without harming the table underneath and stores easily. A solid upgrade to my old ironing board routine.
