WPL C24-1 1/16 Scale 4x4 RC Rock Crawler Truck — Review
Product description
This kit ships ready-to-run as a 1/16 scale off-road truck complete with the crawler, a 2.4 GHz handheld transmitter, a rechargeable onboard battery pack, a charger, and a small bag of spare parts and tools.
The body is modelled with scale decorations and an interior shell to give it a realistic look. LED head and tail lights are fitted so the truck can be driven in low light. Tires are rubbery all-terrain types suited for dirt, mud, and rock, though many owners swap them for softer or larger options for better grip. The wheel rims are compatible with several aftermarket tire sizes.
Underneath, a metal chassis and an upgraded steering layout provide strength and improved torque for climbing. Four spring dampers support each corner and help keep the wheels planted over uneven surfaces. Proportional throttle and steering electronics deliver gradual inputs so the vehicle moves smoothly rather than snapping to full lock or throttle.
The 2.4 GHz radio system offers interference-free control, with enough range for park and trail runs. The powertrain and suspension are intended for trail use and light rock crawling; with larger tires, reinforced drive shafts, or glued-on tires you can push capability further. Recommended for hobbyists 16+ and anyone who wants a ready-to-run crawler they can tweak and maintain. Customer support is available if parts or setup questions arise.
Pros
- Realistic scale details and working LED lights
- Metal chassis with capable suspension travel
- Proportional steering/throttle and reliable 2.4 GHz radio
Cons
- Stock tires and some plastic driveline parts need upgrades
- Tie-rod and axle clearance could be improved
- Some assembly or minor repairs may be required after heavy use
VerdictThe WPL C24-1 is an affordable, ready-to-run 1/16-scale rock crawler that mixes realistic detailing with a surprisingly sturdy metal chassis and decent electronics. It shines as a trail truck and light crawler out of the box, and responds nicely to upgrades like softer or larger tires and metal drive parts. Expect good suspension travel and proportional control, but plan on replacing the stock tir

Budget-friendly but watch the plastics
Decent starter crawler for the money. Axles are plastic and can break on hard impacts, so expect to upgrade those parts if you’re rough on it.

Plenty of off-road fun
This truck delivers strong performance across dirt and rocky ground. Controls feel smooth, LED lights are useful, and it’s durable enough for weekend park sessions. A great gift and easy to drive.

Tough performer after a few mods
Matches what people rave about online. I glued accessories down and it’s endured lots of tumbles without breaking. Handles mud well and keeps running.

Ready to run with decals and extras
Out of the box the controller paired quickly after charging. Real decals and a set of spare parts and tools were included, which was a nice touch. Battery placement required opening the bed to install. It handled dirt and sticks without drama and the battery life was solid.

Solid value for a trail-focused crawler
Good performance for what it is — more a trail truck than a technical crawler. Climbs steep hills and handles dirt and mud well, especially with better tires. AWD works reliably; swapping to 1.0" tires improved traction without glue. 1.3" tires can be used but require adhesive. Overall a dependable trail rig.

Holds up against name brands
Surprised by its durability — still going strong after a year. Great little truck for kids and beginners.

Looks sturdy after steel driveshaft upgrade
Performs well once you replace fragile plastic driveshafts with steel. After that mod it’s been a beast and keeps pace with more expensive trucks.

Plenty of potential once upgraded
Survived many tumbles and still runs. I'd swap the stock wheels and improve tie-rod placement for better clearance. Steering is average, but for the cost it makes a fun, upgradeable intro to scale crawling.

Short-lived out of the box
Neat concept, but it failed on first run when the tires started peeling off the rims.

Kid-approved runtime
My son loves it and the battery life seems longer than many other small RCs we’ve tried.

Realistic looks and capable handling
Detailed body and interior with functional LEDs make it feel authentic. Tires grip well on many surfaces and proportional controls offer smooth, precise inputs. Metal chassis and suspension let it tackle steep angles confidently.

Buen RC, materiales mixtos
Buena camioneta, materiales en general correctos aunque hay piezas plásticas. Me gustó, aunque la caja de engranajes suena algo ruidosa.
