Aqueon Cichlid Slow‑Sinking Medium Pellets (3 mm) — 25 oz
Product description
Aqueon Cichlid Pellets come as a 25‑ounce bag of medium granules intended for adult and larger juvenile cichlids. The packet contains slow‑sinking pellets formulated to be palatable to carnivorous and omnivorous cichlid species.
The recipe includes marine protein sources such as shrimp meal and squid meal, plus kelp and spirulina to promote color and overall health. Whole fish meal and other high‑quality ingredients provide a protein‑rich profile, and the pellets are produced to be readily used by fish so less is expelled as waste.
Pellet size: medium granules average about 3 mm across. A smaller mini size is also available for fry and very small species. The feed is suitable for South American, West African and carnivorous Rift Lake cichlids, as well as many other mid‑to‑bottom feeding species.
When administered according to feeding guidelines, these pellets are formulated not to cloud aquarium water. They are designed to sink slowly so fish at different levels can access them, and to support healthy immune function, vibrant coloration and steady growth.
Aqueon offers this product with customer satisfaction in mind; choose the pellet size that best matches your fish to reduce waste and ensure every animal can feed properly.

My fish approved
My fish ate them readily — no complaints from the tank.

Fish will eat it but not what I expected
The listing I saw included marigold and peas, but the bag I received had a different ingredient set (including insect protein). The fish like it, but I was disappointed by the mismatch in ingredients.

Favorites with my red zebras
My red zebra cichlids enjoy these pellets — they take to them quickly, though you need to get them while they’re visible since they sink fast.

Delivered with a hole in the bag
Package arrived OK but the inner bag had a puncture and about a quarter of the pellets spilled into the outer shipping bag. Food itself was fine after transfer, but I was annoyed by the damaged packaging.

They can’t get enough
I have about 20 cichlids, many over 10", and the medium pellets work perfectly. Parents and fry both eat these (I buy mini for the babies). A wide variety of species in my pond happily accept them.

Perfect for bottom and mid‑level feeders
I purposely chose these because they sink fairly fast. Ideal for catfish, plecos, loaches and bichirs that feed near the substrate. Just don’t overfeed — remove uneaten after 5–10 minutes.

Too fast for some species
Pellets sink quickly; several fish that feed higher in the water column struggle to grab them.

Not what I expected—didn’t sink reliably
I bought these expecting a gradual descent, but many pellets stayed on the surface for hours. My bottom‑dwelling fish didn’t get them and they floated back up when pushed under. Disappointing for my setup.

Mini pellets for Apistogrammas
Great size for Apistogrammas; they sink and reach the bottom where these fish feed. Works well for small cichlids.

Excellent quality at a great value
My go‑to for the smaller cichlids — they gobble it up. Made with good ingredients so the fish are vibrant, active and healthy. Protein is high (around 40%+), and it performs similarly to premium brands.
